Rain please! [Feb. 12th, 2009|07:39 pm]

Officially, Autumn has arrived in early in South Australia. Sure, there are going to be a few hot days still, but the majority of the weather is -and will be- in the twenties. Yay!! Now, if only we (and Victoria. Especially Victoria!! But Adelaide as well, please) could get rain... What we all (South Australia and Victoria) need is good, steady, soaking rain, over two or three days -or more!- to help the trees grow, the rivers gurgle again, and to help cleanse the ground.

I don't know about you all out there (except Claire. I know lytab_au wishes the same as me), but I'm wishing for the good, steady, soaking rains to come. Won't you join me in wishing for that too? Comment if you do. :)

Our hearts and minds are still with the Victims of the Wildfires in Victoria. They still aren't out yet! The whole thing is devastating to most Australians, including me. I wish I could help in some way. However, I will be spending money at Coles (major grocery store) tomorrow, since they have announced that all the Profits from every store tomorrow will go to Victoria's Bushfire Victims. I know it's only a small amount of help, a drop in the ocean, but I also know every little bit helps. I don't have *much* money, but maybe this will help.

*Pssst!* If you want to donate to the cause (don't feel like you have to, tho'), cleolinda has had some links to The Australian Red Cross up on her posts. If they're not there today, well, they appear in her earlier posts this week. As far as I'm concerned, The Australian Red Cross is the ONLY safe place to give money! It's definitely official (no spammers/fakers/trolls)!

'Twas 45.7°C in Adelaide (South Australia) today.

The hottest day in 70 years.

The third-hottest temperature EVER RECORDED.

So now you know why we're all sweltering, melting, and expiring. We'd cry, but tears=water, and we're just too hot to lose more water!

*melts*

Y'all in America don't know how lucky you've got it. I'm especially envious of people in Washington D.C., where it's SNOWING. Waah! I want some of that coolth!!!

This heatwave is supposed to last 7-10 days. WAAAAH!!!

Well, really, my title says almost all of it. I'm wide awake. It's 3-something am. I should be sleeping. Gosh knows my body is really tired. Unfortunately, my brain has been amped up on super-Ventolin today yesterday, so my mind is still wanting STIMULATION! NOW!!

I keep searching LJ for something to read, but I've already read it all. :( Seems not many people are posting today this week...

I hate asthma.

I gotta wonder, if the doctors/nurses/pharmacists who keep telling me to take extra Ventolin have ever actually experienced this themselves. I think not. Because, when I'm so high (and flitting all over the place - my thoughts come and go so freaking fast that I can only hold onto a few of them) from Ventolin that, as my doctor once put it, "taking 'speed' would slow me down", they're telling me to take *more* of this drug that's making me so freaking high. And let me tell you, people: being high is NO FUN at all. It's really draining, actually. So, I just don't think they get it, how *exhausting* the experience is. It's kinda like (I imagine) if I'd just run the Boston Marathon, or something. My body is *that* tired. Possibly even more so. And this is just from fighting to breathe. No offense to real marathon runners, but I swear what I just went through is harder on the body than a marathon - any marathon. Except possibly one straight up the side of Mount Everest!

My throat hurts. My brain is wide awake, even though I'm exhausted. my ribs and lungs hurt. My back hurts. I have about as much energy as a limp, overcooked strand of spaghetti. So why can't I get to sleep??

[Current Music |Quiet (at last!).]

Hi. Well, since I'm somewhat worried about the dropping of LJ -and the firing of almost half the San Francisco staff!- I've created another backup journal. You can now find me at http://editornia.insanejournal.com (this is only, as I say, a backup journal. I'll still be posting here on LJ mostly. It's... just in case, I guess you could say). I'm also thinking of joining Twitter, if only to keep up with friends from here if LJ runs into Much More Trouble, and starts to... I can't even type it. But it's dredded, and we don't want that to happen. So, let's not think about it, shall we? *hums loudly and distractedly*

So! *fakes bright, cheery smile* What have Y'all been up to, while my internets were down last weekend?
